Simon Gold
Thank you for looking at my Biog. Here is a little bit about me. I have been married for 21 years to the most wonderful understanding lady. I have two boys aged 15 and 11 and am a dedicated family man. I was born in 1959, and grew up in Stepney, East London, the younger of two boys. I went to the local primary school and was the last year to take the 11 plus exams, (equivalent to today’s SATS), which I passed, allowing me to apply to the local grammar school. I was not accepted as I did not play rugby or hockey! So, I ended up at the local secondary modern boy’s school, which did not have the best of reputations. Although it was not that bad, it did not capture my attention, and most days I would find a way to skip out of school. However, I did manage to somehow leave with 5 O' levels. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life or career. My Dad had a successful fish and chip shop, but the thought of doing that did not appeal, though I did like eating the food! So, at 17, armed with my guitar and money I had saved from part time jobs, I went travelling. I spent time in the Greek Islands and Italy, but the place where I spent most time, and fell in love with, was Israel. Alas, the time went far too quickly and all too soon it was over. Arriving home around a year later I needed to earn some money, so I took an apprenticeship in jewellery making. After three years I became a fully fledged jewellery maker. For the next three years, I worked for myself making bespoke jewellery for a number of shops and individuals. Hey, although I say it myself, I was pretty good! The problem was that this was still not satisfying me. I felt like I had not finished my education. I enrolled in evening classes and took two A levels. I sold my jewellery business and went to college, to take a foundation course in accountancy. Although I enjoyed my time at college and passed the exams, I realised that accountancy was not for me. I had, however, proved to myself again that I could achieve what I set out to do, when I applied myself. These years were especially hard, as I had to fund my studies by providing mini cab services in the evenings…but what to do next, I still had no idea. I spent the next few years working as an accounts clerk (well I thought I should use what I had learnt) and I even tried doing various sales jobs. I then came across computers. Finally I had found something that captured my interest and satisfied my curiosity of how things work. I took every course I could find. This had really caught my attention and I knew I had found a ‘place’ where I could settle and build a decent career. So I became a computer engineer.
Over the next fifteen years I built up an IT business. At times I would be a contractor and at times I would build up the direct side of the business. It served me well and has enabled me to provide for my lovely wife and ever growing two boys. Sure, it was long hours and quite hard at times, but it kept my interest and I loved the speed at which the industry was developing. I am not sure if it was the economic climate, or the fact that with each new day computer suppliers and software providers were making their products more reliable and easier to use. In truth, it was probably a combination of the two. I found that it was becoming more and more difficult to find a profitable contract. My small business clients were just not getting the same reliability and software issues anymore and neither were my residential customers. I could see the business becoming harder and harder. Yet at the same time, I could see the increased role the computer was playing in their lives. Maybe I should have just soldiered on, so to speak, but finding enough work and maintaining a consistent income was becoming stressful in itself. I could see there was a lot more to this industry than just simply looking after hardware and software issues. I was fed up trading my time for money and not having enough hours in the day to pursue other interests and spend quality time with my family. I could see there was something else out there and that time was slipping by. I could see that the internet was and still is, growing at a phenomenal rate. For the first time I saw that I had to have a plan, to achieve my goals. Hold On! What were my goals? I didn’t even know how to begin to write one .Like a lot of people; I never really had a plan. So I started to think about what was important to me. I wanted a business that would let me be based from home and give me the freedom to work when I choose, so I could spend more quality time with my wonderful family.
I wanted to build a sustainable six figure income with multiple income streams, that would enable me to enjoy the lifestyle I deserved, spend time with my family, travel and to pursue my other hobbies. I learnt how to write a goal and a plan! Difficult to do, but it gave me the focus to do the next thing. What was that, I hear you ask? The next thing was to take ACTION! I started searching around the internet for business opportunities and ways to make money online. I was inundated with information and schemes to make quick money. I signed up for several of these systems, to teach me how to make money online. I looked at them with enthusiasm, but this soon turned into total confusion. 'You need to learn article marketing, social networking, posting on blogs, affiliate marketing' etc, etc!! I was confused and didn’t know where to start. All the information was there, but where do you start and what do you focus on first? I started talking to my friend Garth. Coincidently he had been looking at similar things. We could both see that the future money people would come from the internet. So, we decided to pool our experience and resources, to form TPC Internet Marketing . We began to seek out the correct people to work with, to help and guide us to get our Internet Business started. I would like to tell you that it all then simply fell into place, but it didn’t. Finding the right group of people was the toughest part, because they all talked the talk, but very few could walk the walk. Without boring you, suffice to say, eventually we did find the right people , the right community and the right business method. We had to kiss a few frogs before we learnt, but we did learn and we did end up landing on our feet. Working with a group of like minded people, we are now able to enjoy all the benefits of running a successful internet marketing business. Check out The Six Figure Mentors of which we are founder members. We are now in the best position to help others to achieve this same level of success. We know what is required to get started and how to go on, to build a sustainable business online. I look forward to hearing from you, Simon.
